Joe Biden has won the US presidency over Donald Trump, and is projected to become the 46th president of the United States on Saturday, as per AP tally. Biden, who turns 78 at the end of this month, will become the oldest US President when he is inaugurated in January.

His victory came after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted through a surge of mail-in votes that delayed the processing of some ballots. Biden crossed 290 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania.

Joe Biden would also win if he prevails in two of the three other key states where he was narrowly ahead on Friday: Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. Like Pennsylvania, all three were still processing ballots on Friday.

Donald Trump has refused to concede to president-elect Joe Biden, vowing legal challenges that would overturn the results of the US election 2020.

Trump said in a statement: “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.”

“Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated… I will not rest until the American People have the honest vote count they deserve and that Democracy demands.”
