India-Australia Virtual Summit

New Delhi: Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Australian PM Scott Morrison, recently held a virtual summit .
The focus of the meet was to further strengthen the bilateral ties in areas like healthcare,trade and defence.
Importantly, India, Australia signed seven agreements after the meet. Let’s have a glance at them.
Agreements between India & Australia:
MoU Arrangement concerning Mutual Logistics Support (MLSA):
The Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (MLSA) will allow militaries of the 2 countries to use each other’s bases for logistics support.
This agreement will increase military inter-operability through defence excercise between the 2 countries.
It should be noted here India has already signed similar agreements with the US, France and Singapore.
Comprehensive strategic partnerships:
Upgradation of the prevailing 2+2 dialogue to the Ministerial level, elevating the 2009 bilateral Strategic Partnership to a CSP.
during this regard both nations signed a joint declaration of working together within the following areas through mutual cooperation:
Enhancing science,technology and research collaboration,
Maritime cooperation for an Open and Inclusive Indo-Pacific Defence Cooperation,Regional and Multilateral cooperation,Water Resources Management,
Education, Culture, tourism,

Support in UN and international bodies.
