More than 100 people are dead and thousands are injured after a huge explosion shook Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Tuesday, officials said.

An official with the Lebanese Red Cross said a minimum of 100 people were killed and quite 4,000 were wounded. The official said the toll could rise further.

“People are asking the emergency department about their loved ones and it’s difficult to look in the dark because there’s no electricity,” Health Minister Hamad Hasan told Reuters. “We face a true catastrophe and wish time to assess the extent of damages.”

Videos of the explosion show an enormous blast followed by screaming and thick smoke rising over the town.

The explosion departs the gas cylinders attached to the nearby homes. It’s thought that there have been 10 explosions in total.

Six people were killed instantly while around 30 people suffered from varying degrees of burns. They were taken to an area hospital, where three reportedly died this morning.

“One section of the harmonica houses [row houses] were completely destroyed by the explosion,” a source told Daily NK.

“There’s absolutely nothing left of them.”

Locals had to place out the fires themselves as no fire trucks appeared on the scene, consistent with reports.

Officials reportedly told those affected that there’ll be “no compensation” because the incident was the result of “carelessness.”

Huge fire breaks out in Ajman

Day after a catastrophic explosion of the Lebanese capital of Beirut, reports of a serious fire are now coming to light from Ajman within the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to Khaleej Times, a huge fire engulfed the fruits and vegetable market in Ajman’s new industrial area. Fire engines are rushed to the spot and protection teams have diverted traffic until the blaze is often brought in check.

Five people were hurt when a gas explosion tore through a cafe in Ajman.

The four members of staff and a gas company worker were taken to hospital after the blast at Feza Cafe in the Al Rashidiya district on Tuesday.

The cafe workers have since been discharged from hospital while the fifth man, who was at the premises to replace an empty gas cylinder, is still receiving treatment.

Residents told of seeing the injured men fleeing the building “bleeding and screaming”.

The official Iraqi press agency reported a few fires during a food and electrical warehouse in Najaf Ashraf and announced that firefighters try to contain it.

Sources revealed that the food and electrical storages of “Al-Quds” within the south of the province caught fire.
Announcing that the warehouses are considered because the main point of sale in Najaf Ashraf, it’s stressed that firefighting teams will still work to contain the hearth with the presence of more of their staff, and every one the province’s security forces and their supporting ones is on standby and try to regulate the hearth as soon as possible.
